Rossi
AT THE SAME POINT OF SUCCESS

They create different lines, but both are at the same point o success. Tita and Lucio Rossi are a brother - sister team.
Tita is a dynamite blonde, who moves continually in leaps and bounds. Lucio is quet warm and zeroes in with his own pace and intensity.
But there is no chance to change professions at this point, as Tita just showed an excellent collection to buyers and press. A stack of of oders sit on the desk with a beautiful new daughter-in-law, Luciana, who takes care of oders from the recent deluge of foreign buyers who have seen the Tita Rossi label.
"Yes, we are very pleased this season has been most successful. Our Biggest market is a series of very chic Japanese and German stores, but Harrods also bought heavily as well as Made-laine Couture in London, so our English will improve."
The echo of laughter come from tall, dark, handsome brother Lucio. Lucio artwork line the wall of the baroque atelier. But why did he begins his creative life in poster work rather than with fashion.
"I was very fortunate, as I was one of 20 students selected all throughout Italy to enter a Government owned experimental art school"
In 1957 Lucio won an International competition through his handsome poster proving one to visit Jordan.
"Since that time I began to feel all my intensive training was wasted. Posters were being supplanted by the photo. Record the jackets I had designed one year, became photo renderings the next. So with a certain amount of creativity coupled with an equal amount of disallusion ment, I went to New York."
Lucio sparkles at the thought of America, and New York in Particular. " I designed jewels for Audrey Glackman at the Fashion Jewels. Ideas and opportunities seemed to flow there. From that moment in New York I began to design in a graphic way."
"he's splendid," gloats Tita, as Lucio blushes at the compliment and says, "I never have really a plan when i take pen to paper. it just comes."
Lucio Rossi might not have an exact plan but with the use of balsam wood which he maticulously cuts into profiles and superimposes one upon the other, Lucio creates his art. His pen and ink sketches are designs for fabric which can be seen in the Tita Rossi collection.
Tita runs over to pick one of Lucio's scarves from its rack and a model wraps it around the neckline of one of Tita's new looks for spring summer '78.
Romantic spells Tita's look for '78. Pale stock tied silk shirts combine with wide pleated skirts with hidden patch pockets and shirt like jackets. Casual elegance is respelled in silk wool combinations of short sleeved ' baby coats' (made famous by Tita Rossy) which team, that swing easy and wide, with silk shirt and skirts.
The fabrics combine and compliments each other,
one being a small houndstooth and the skirt in a larger version of the same fabric. Narrow sleeveless dresses are updated with overskirts and loose dolman sleeve jackets. For cocktails the look is soft blouson tops that combine with swinging pleats in silk, or the very romantic eyelet and velvet bodice dresses. Crepe fantasy prints make a crecendo and then a decrecendo as large and small flowers alternate between the off the shoulder bodice and two tired skirt that gracefully touches the ankle.
This brother sister team have their individual design ingredients which together paint a picture of success.
